Step-by-step guide

How to resize a photo and signature for PAN card

Use this PAN card document resizer online to crop your image, choose dimensions, and prepare a JPEG in a few steps. Your image stays in your browser throughout editing.

Open the PAN photo resizer
  1. 1. Choose an image

Open the photo resizer  and select a JPG, PNG, or WebP file from your device. Choose Photograph or Signature, then select NSDL/Protean or UTIITSL to load the relevant dimensions, resolution, file-size limit, and capture guidance.

  2. 2. Set dimensions and crop

Choose the matching portal preset or adjust the width, height, and resolution to the current application instructions. The NSDL/Protean reference dimensions are 2.5 × 3.5 cm for a photo and 4.5 × 2 cm for a signature, both at 200 DPI. UTIITSL uses 213 × 213 px at 300 DPI for a photo and 400 × 200 px at 600 DPI for a signature. Drag the crop box to position the image and review the pixel preview.

  3. 3. Review and download

Check the output dimensions and file size, then download the JPEG. The selected preset sets the file-size limit: NSDL/ Protean is 50 KB for both images; UTIITSL is 30 KB for a photo and 60 KB for a signature. If the image cannot meet its limit at minimum quality, try a simpler or clearer source image.

  4. 4. Verify before uploading

Open the saved image and confirm the crop is right. Compare its format, dimensions, resolution, and size against the current instructions on the official Protean or UTIITSL portal. An NSDL photo resize or UTI photo resize workflow does not replace the portal’s own requirements.

All image editing takes place in your browser. The tool does not upload or overwrite your original image, and preparing a file does not guarantee acceptance of an application.
